Who is responsible for your information?

James Kenny, trading as Off The Boat and registered with Hartlepool Borough Council, is responsible for the personal information used through this website. Information we collect

When you make a reservation, request delivery or use a customer account, we may receive your name, email address, telephone number, delivery address, requested date and time, reservation contents, payment status and messages needed to fulfil your request. Card details are entered on Shopify's secure checkout and are not seen or stored by Off The Boat.

Why we use it

• To receive, check, confirm and fulfil seafood reservations.
• To contact you about availability, collection, delivery, alternatives or refunds.
• To provide secure customer accounts and reservation history.
• To prevent fraud, keep the service secure and meet accounting, food-safety and legal obligations.

We use this information because it is necessary to provide the service you request, to meet our legal obligations and for legitimate business interests such as security and customer service. We do not sell customer information.

Who receives it

Information is shared only where needed with service providers that run the website, secure customer accounts, process payments and support communications. This includes Shopify for products, checkout, payments and customer accounts, and the website hosting provider. If you choose WhatsApp, Facebook or email, that provider will process the information you send under its own privacy terms.

Cookies and device storage

The website uses essential encrypted session cookies for secure customer sign-in and device storage to remember a basket and protect typed reservation details. These are necessary for the features a customer chooses to use. We do not currently use advertising cookies or website analytics cookies. Shopify may use its own essential and security technologies when you continue to its checkout or account service.

How long we keep information

Basket information remains on your device until it is cleared or becomes incompatible. Secure sign-in records expire automatically. Reservation and transaction records are kept only for as long as needed to provide customer service and meet accounting, dispute, food-safety and legal requirements.

Your rights

You can ask for access to your information, correction, deletion, restriction, objection or a copy where the law provides those rights. Contact us using the details above. You may also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
